Memorial Day (catching up)

Hi folks- its been too long, I know
We just got back from NY where we gave everyone the flu and so
we have been away from the computer for a while. Here are some pics
from Memorial day at the Blythe's house!

With her big friend Aleccio. He wanted her necklace (teething necklace made of Baltic Amber), and she wanted two things: first to take off that darned hat and second to defend her "jew'ries" as Uncle Deedge calls em.

Mom and baby are sick...

Sorry no pics- we are feeling under the weather this week.

However here is an update:

Madeline is pulling herself to stand all the time now, especially in her

crib where she like to stand instead of sleep! Most of my day is spent bent over, holding her hands as she walks around and around and around stopping to check out something new and then climbing up on my lap to do it all over again. She loves her new perspective! She can pull herself to a sitting position from laying down, can "crawl" by dragging herself forward with her arms and then creeping her legs up. She can get accross the room this way and then rolls to whatever she wants but doesn't like it because it is so much more work than walking. She can pick up small pieces of food and feed herself- she likes carrots, tofu and fruit this way but they get all mushed in her palm most of the time. She can hold her spoon although it gets to her mouth upside down- she is trying! and drink from a regular cup (okay she always spills by the third sip but when she is careful she does great!) as well as a sippy cup. She can "cruise" around the furniture a little as long as we are there when she decides to leeeeeean backwards, head first and she is constantly practicing waving hello, recognizes the signs for milk and water and I think she even has developed a sense of humor. She makes funny noises and waits for me to squeal with laughter and then she does it again because she has learned cause and effect.

Still no words that are really "words" per se but she has been really physically active and they say they take turns growing verbally and physically.

This month she has had a lot of "firsts". She still only has 2 bottom teeth but the top teeth are on their way out for sure!

Oh and...we think she is allergic to milk. I gave her yogurt last month- to which she had a very bad reaction and yesterday I gave her a sip of formula to which she had the same reaction (and frankly i dont blame her- that stuff smells gross!) :)

Taking a big trip to NY this week- so we are hoping that we

are feeling better by tomorrow.

Dont worry, I'm bringing my camera, so I will try and make a post

while we are on the right coast.

Crawling is hard work!

I know, i know, you all believe Madeline to be happy and smiling and generally

a perfect baby but I have decided that it is my fault that you think that and I will

share a few glimpses with you of a day in her life...

mostly spent Trying to crawl or stand and getting frustrated.

She is very close to both. She can stand if she holds something. She can even walk

if you hold her hands- though she gets tired quickly and distracted easily. she can crawl

backwards (crab crawl style). She can army crawl (slither on her belly and pull herself

forward) just a little. She just is not satisfied with "sit and play" anymore, she wants

too badly to locomote.

So you may see her at her less than happiest, but its work

after all (and I cut the videos off before she got too upset, of course. I still want you to

think she is relatively perfect).


Just wait till i post a blog that shows you the 2 hour going to bed tantrum

or the every 2 hour nightime wakeups. She isnt perfect, i assure you.

but, we still love her lots.

we spent the afternoon with adrienne and lila and with chris, shane and hayden.
madeline had a blast tasting feet. I am not kidding about the foot fetish and here is more proof!
it was so nice to see the babies all together. we are all still a little in shock, i think, that we are all parents and have been for months now. it still feels very new.

We picked up our new car today! Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Isn't it pretty? Now we have to have a second baby since we have all this room! JOKING!

its even pretty under the hood.

But no sooner did we get it home, Don ripped out the dashboard to add some new gadgets.
Its gonna be so cool when he is done. Navigation system, bluetooth integration, backup camera, ipod console, dvd screens in headrests. Don calls it "pimpalicous". I call it our 12 year investment- a family car!~

I mean, every kid has this picture in their album, right? Playing in the tupperware cabinet? She loves it. So much to chew on. So when we go to make spaghetti...just have to remember to rinse first! Today she crawled right into the cabinet. She is going to be trouble!

Aunt Roe

Aunt Roe came to visit this past weekend and
snagged a few quick pics.
We had lunch at the Fairmont- woo-hoo
and they had a big suaree that night for a friend
so we spent the afternoon.
Jason met us there and Madeline was stoked to see him too!
