Bennett's got a girlfriend

Ava came over the other day as part of Bennett's first (and probably only) playdate just for him.
They really hit it off which is nice since we like her parents too :)

She totally made the first move, but in the end it was Bennett who was the smooth one when he grabbed her hand and sucked on her fingers.
We were dying laughing so missed it, of course on video

And some pics of the parents too.
It was our Bradley class get-together and our doula, and good friend Ursula was there to see the families all together too.

what a nice way to get ready for these guys' first father's day. Don was all-pro
and we even got them to make dads some gifts too.

The big one is Bennett's gift to Don and the little one is from Madeline.

tummy time

tummy time is not so frequent for us
bennett likes to be looking at faces so being on the floor is not his cup of tea
but if madeline is in the room he will usually give it a go for a few minutes
and he sleeps on my belly sometimes or cuddles with don, and im constantly carrying him, facing me in the wrap so i know he doesnt need as much time on the floor.

He can hold his head up well now.
He grabs at things and brings them all to his mouth to explore and i know its only a matter of time till i have a crawler on my hands! oh no!

He loves "so Big!" and peeka boo (esp with madeline and him on the bed and we play it with a bedsheet. they both squeal with laughter!

He belly laughs which of course melts my heart and is still sleeping through the night.
so...

no complaints here.

Happy Father's Day Don

You are a wonderful dad and these two kids could not love you more.
We are so grateful for the love you bring to our lives and excited to wish you a Happy Father's Day.

xoxo

oldies

one of my old favorites-

amazing how her personality was so much the same then, but how different she is in so many ways.

Tonight i told her a story before bed. And as i was making it up she kept interrupting to add her own imaginary details and we had fun making it up as we went along. Then just before we were done she said " No mommy, tell me a true story" "this one is exciting but its not real".

Are you kidding me?!

amazing to watch a little mind grow. what a priviledge.

its june. u need pics, i know

2 sleepy children today

landscapers

we had our backyard regraded, some trees trimmed, the flower beds cleaned and mulched and a few hedges ripped out.
im ready to plant tomatoes and basil and get cookin.
here is a before and after.- you can actually see our windows on the second floor now.
and the weed that i was telling everyone was a sunflower garden was finally chopped!

in memoriam...

right outside of the little b's bedroom window, in the holly tree was a sweet little nest with 3 eggs
the gardeners made sure to preserve but not touch it
and just pruned around it. (incidentally there's a robins nest in the backyard too but i digress...)
Later in the day, the eggs were gone.
and we know it was either the local hawk or the pesty bluejay and its all our fault for exposing the nest. we are sorry birds!

Silly Dennis

There was a beautiful gathering of Dennis Rodetis' friends and loved ones this week. Many people shared stories of good times they had with him. And the recurring theme was that Dennis loved life. Did not take a day for granted and was just so easy-going. He was happy 99% of the time and did not ask for material things, but just the simple sunrise and sunset over a northport beach. Many of us discussed putting together a fundraiser in Dennis' name and contributing it toward a scholarship in Northport. He was a big Northport guy and you cant walk down Main Street without bumping into at least 10 people who knew him.
Here we are celebrating Christmas a year and a half ago. He took good care of my mom for 14 years and was always generous and caring to me as well. I will remember him fondly. You see him here healthy and in good spirits, how we plan to remember him.
