This is how the day began

and this is where it ended

and in between- a lot of fun:

the kids are thinking we are nuts

leaving them with our trusty friend and babysitter when we go to the start line, Benita says ‘just rip the bandaid!’

(quick diet coke to stave off the mid muck migraine that was about to come on full blast)

as we take off at 10am, the first runners from the 9:30 heat are just beginning to come in to the finish.

and about 45 min later, after hurdles and rock walls and mud bogs, and slipper bridges and mud quicksand we enter the final stretch!

and we’re finished!

even after a freezing firehose shower…

and at 10:30 the costumed heats began!

but we were ready to have a bath and burn our clothes!
